Paula Quiroz is a sophomore biology major. Her favorite things are her iPod and her composition books which she uses to write random notes and inspirational sayings. Her hobbies include drawing, writing, reading, exercising, learning about different cultures, watching movies with friends and going to the beach. She enjoys sports, music, dance, martial arts, medicine and current events. She plans to join the Peace Corps after graduating and dreams of going to Brazil for the next FIFA World Cup.

Sabrina Talamo is a senior dance and communication studies major and the founder and president of Nova Dance Society. She has won the New Star Dance Award and the Lifetime Star Dance Award from NSU. Talamo is also a choreographer for the NSU Vocal Ensemble, a contributing writer for The Current, and an editor for Digressions, NSU’s student-run literary magazine. She is a member of Body and Soul Dance Theatre, a contemporary modern dance company. Her goals are to attend graduate school, to write about dance either academically or professionally and to teach at a university.

Nozomu “Naz” Ozaki is a second-year doctoral student in family therapy. He likes sports, tai-chi, exercise, reading, eating, some cooking, and various forms of art. His interests include community work and the application of systems theory and cybernetics at multiple levels for others’ well-being. Ozaki plans to work as a therapist or consultant after he graduates. He is a member of the Nova International Student Association (NISA), the Broward Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (BAMFT) and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). His philosophy on life is, “Look at the lines that connect dots.”

Timothy Kimuli, junior legal studies major, is the leader of African Affairs in the Student Coalition for Human Rights. He is also a member of the Gay-Straight Student Alliance and participated in the gay pride march last year with the Broward Human Rights Initiative. His interests include going to the beach, socializing, working out at the gym, reading, going on road trips, surfing the Internet and eating tons of American cheese. He plans to attend law school and work for human rights and the environment.

Lesly Viera is a freshman biology major and the president and founder of Locks for Cause, an NSU organization, which assists in getting hair donations for wigs that are donated to children suffering from hair loss caused by disease.. She is the local project leader for Rotaract and teaches belly dancing at Gigi’s Academy. Her favorite place is the ocean and her favorite quote is, “Cancer is a word not a sentence.”

Devan Trammel-Fisher is a first-year student in the College of Osteopathic Medicine. He said that before medical school his hobbies included reading, music, movies and all kinds of exercise.
