FACEOFF: Allow guns on campus

As the Mayans put it, 2012 will be “the end of the world.” While the Earth may still be rotating on its axis, the world of guns as we know it may have started to end. As the talk of the Aurora, Colo. shooting died down, we were faced with yet another massacre — one that left 20 children and six adults dead at Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown, Conn.

2013 Leadership Conference open to students

NSU’s Office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement is set to host the 2013 Winter Leadership Conference on Jan. 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Carl DeSantis Building. The event will consist of a series of workshop sessions on diversity, time management, effective advertising, team-building, and other topics to benefit student leaders.

NSU to host qualitative conference

The fourth annual Qualitative Report’s two-day conference will be held Jan. 18-19 on the main campus to help researchers produce and improve qualitative research. The conference is affiliated with The Qualitative Report, an online journal, and is sponsored by NSU’s Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences. This year’s theme is “Qualitative Re-search and Technology.”

Embrace your inner tech geek at ITPalooza

NSU’s Graduate School of Computer and Information Science will host the 2012 “ITPalooza —South Florida Tech Holiday Party” on Dec. 12. South Florida Technology Groups will partner together to host a variety of tech meetings, informational discussions, and holiday networking parties — all free and open to the public.
