The Australian rock group Gang of Youths released their debut album, “The Positions,” in April 2015. The band formed in 2013, and in a span of a few years, they have gone through quite a lot emotionally, which shows not only in their music, but also in their live performances. After going through a failed marriage and a suicide attempt, lead singer David Leaupepe tried writing about these situations, but with optimism. Their sound, although rock, manages to have a certain softness and mellow style to it. Leaupepe’s handsome voice gives the band their unique sound, which isn’t going by unnoticed. Back in the land down under, they’re a big deal and have received nominations for multiple awards at Aria 2015, such as Breakthrough Artist and Best Rock Album, to name a couple. Now, in 2016, Gang of Youths is entering the American market and is in the rotation at multiple college radio stations — beginning with yours truly, RadioX. “The Positions” can be found on both Spotify and Apple Music.
