Commencement 101

Once again, it’s time to say au revoir to the graduating students of NSU. The Current staff hopes you’ve enjoyed your time at NSU and that all of your memories, experiences and friendships are ones that will last the rest of your life. Congratulations, Class of 2014! Enjoy your commencement ceremonies.

All commencements will be held at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, unless otherwise noted. As ceremony details and speakers are still being finalized, more details will be available next week. Look for news coverage at nsucurrent.nova.edu and additional details at nova.edu/commencement.

Shepard Broad Law Center Commencement   |   May 10 at 11 a.m.

 Commencement speaker Will Gunn was the top lawyer in the Department of Veterans Affairs, served as an Air Force colonel and was first-ever Chief Defense Counsel in the Department of Defense Office of Military Commissions.

Baccalaureate Commencement   |   May 10 at 4 p.m.

 Participants will include undergraduate students from the Abraham S. Fischler School of Education, the College of Health Care Sciences, College of Nursing, Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship and the Institute of the Study of Human Service, Health and Justice.

Commencement speaker Chesley B. Sullenberger, famously known as Captain Sully, led his flight crew to safely guided U.S. Airways Flight 1549 to an emergency water landing on the Hudson River on Jan. 15, 2009.

Health Professions Division Commencement   |   May 18 at 1 p.m.

 Participants will include students from the Colleges of Dental Medicine, Health Care Sciences’ Physical Therapy Program, Optometry, Osteopathic Medicine, Pharmacy and Medical Science.

Graduate Commencement   |   June 21 at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

 Participants in the 11 a.m. commencement will include graduate students from the Abraham S. Fischler School of Education and Center for Psychological Studies.

The 4 p.m. commencement is for graduate students from the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, the Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences, the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, the Oceanographic Center, the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Institute for the study of Human Service, Health and Justice.

Health Professions Division Commencement   |   Aug. 23 at 1 p.m. in the Don Taft University Center

 Participants will include students from the College of Health Care Sciences, except physical therapy, and the College of Nursing
