Career Development gives back

The Office of Career Development will host its second ever Holiday Extravaganza on Dec. 4 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the second-floor lounge of the Don Taft University Center.

Graduate Assistant for Campus Relations and Student Outreach Carsyn Crane said this event is different from last year’s because the office will work with Community Action Using Student Empowerment (CAUSE) to make a difference and give back to the community.

Students will be able to decorate cookies with provided icing and toppings. CAUSE will then send the cookies to the Anne Storck Center, an organization who helps those with developmental disabilities.

The event will include free pizza from Pizza Loft, and students will have the chance to win $25 Target gift cards at a raffle.

Career Ambassador Chrissy Tabulov said there will also be a Jeopardy style game that will include questions on the office and its purpose. Other questions will focus on holidays like Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanza, and pop culture. Students on the two winning teams will receive giveaways from the office.

Tabulov said the event is a chance to promote the Career Development office.

“We wanted to provide a fun time, a good stress relief before finals,” Tabulov said. “Student are able to contribute to a good cause and also have fun with their friends.”

Crane said the career ambassadors will lead the event and have been planning it for months.

“We’re just very excited for this event to happen,” Crane said. “We’re very excited for people to show up and we hope everyone comes.”
