Pompano Beach Seafood Festival

When: April 24 to 26

Where: Pompano Pier, 222 Pompano Beach Blvd., Pompano Beach

Why go: The 31st Pompano Beach Seafood Festival includes more than 140 arts and crafts booths, music ranging from country, rock ‘n’ roll to Motown/Funk and 30 seafood booths with every type of seafood imaginable.

Saturday & Sunday – $15 (kids under 12 are free)

SunFest

When: April 29-May 3

Where: 100 Clematis Street, West Palm Beach

Why go: SunFest is Florida’s largest waterfront music and art festival. The festival takes place in downtown West Palm Beach along Florida’s Intracoastal Waterway. Entertainment includes a firework show and performances by Fall Out Boy, Paramore, The Shadowboxers, Kaskade, Hozier and more.

Slide the City

When: May 2

Where: Vista View Park, 4001 S.W. 142nd Ave., Davie

Why go: A family friendly slip-and-slide water party event, “Slide the City,” features 1,000 feet of slick vinyl. This is the biggest slip-and-slide to hit asphalt that travels to cities across the country. There will be live music, food and drinks. Make sure to bring your water buckets, floaties and water guns to squirt, spray, splash and get soaked.

The Color Run: Shine Tour

When: May 2

Where: Huizenga Park 32 Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale

Why go: The Color Run, also known as the Happiest 5k on the Planet, is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness and individuality. The race features a unique Sparkle Zone, where participants will be shot with glitter, along with clouds of color, of course.
