Weeks Of Welcome

Weeks of Welcome, an NSU tradition that consists of various events held by offices and organizations across campus to showcase all NSU has to offer its students, kicked off on Aug. 19 and will continue through Sept. 5. All in-person events require a mask. To see a full list of events, visit the Shark Fins website

Unity Canopy

The Office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement will host the Unity Canopy project in the Alvin Sherman Library Quad to showcase the uniqueness of individuals at NSU. The project began on Monday and will continue from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 25 and 3 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 26. The Unity Canopy’s goal is to raise awareness on how labels impact our perception of the world. The project is meant to celebrate identity and promote inclusion throughout the NSU community.

SharkaPalooza

SharkaPalooza, a student club and organization fair, will be held on Aug. 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Bill Gessner Sports Complex Field. The event will also feature performances, prize giveaways, and activity booths. There will be local vendors from Fort Lauderdale and free food.

Media Mash

The Office of Student Media will host their annual Media Mash inside the Don Taft University Center Spine on Aug. 30. Starting at 11 a.m., Media Mash is a great opportunity to meet NSU’s student-run newspaper, The Current, in addition to Sharks United Television (SUTV) and Radio X. The event will feature music, giveaways, photos and more.

Fraternity and Sorority Life BBQ

On Aug. 31 students can learn about Fraternity and Sorority Life at NSU at a BBQ in the Flight Deck Backyard outside the University Center. From 6 to 9 p.m. students can meet all of the Greek organizations on NSU’s campus.

Return of the Sharks Photo Challenge

NSU students can show off their #Returnofthesharks pride this semester by entering the Office of Student Media’s photo challenge with a chance to win a gift card, gear, and other prizes. Students can enter virtually by following the upcoming instructions to @nsustudentmedia on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Be prepared to show how excited you are about the start of the new semester.
