Professor joins Health and Human Services Federal Advisory Committee 

Naushira Pandya, chair for the department of geriatrics at the Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine, was chosen to be a Federal Advisory Committee member for the Department of Health and Human Services committee on Interdisciplinary, Community-based Linkages. George Hanbury, NSU’s president and CEO, said, “I am pleased that your [Pandya]  knowledge, experience, and skills, have been recognized by the highest authority in this country to advise the U.S. Secretary for this vital Federal department.” Pandya has already gone through clearance with the Office of the White House Liaison and the Department of Health and Human Services to be appointed to this federal advisory committee.  

 

Workshop on Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis 

In collaboration with Jonathan Smith of Birkbeck University of London and The Qualitative Report, NSU will present a workshop on Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. The workshop will be held on Sept. 30 over Zoom. Smith will present his own study to show participants examples of interpretative phenomenological analysis. The workshop will teach participants to understand research approaches in interpretative phenomenological analysis research. 

 

Provost’s Research Scholarship competition opens 

Nominations for the Provost’s Research and Scholarship Award opened on Aug. 30 and will close Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. This award is meant to recognize faculty members that have made significant accomplishments in NSU’s scholarship and research. Morey Kolber, from the College of Health Care Sciences, and Cristina Godoy, from the College of Dental Medicine, were the winners of the 10th annual Provost’s Research and Scholarship Award. Corey Rosen joins 2021 Virtual Writing Workshops 

Actor, writer and visual effects producer, Corey Rosen has joined the Alvin Sherman Library for the 2021 Virtual Writing Workshops. Rosen will present Your Story, Well Told: Storytelling Workshop. According to the registration site, “Learn the art of telling stories and make the sale, land the client, propose a toast, or impress a date. Corey Rosen is an Emmy-award winning writer and actor with years of experience as a skilled storytelling coach. His book, “Your Story, Well Told,” is jam-packed with some of the best storytelling strategies out there.” Rosen has worked as a writer for Jim Henson Productions, Lucasflim and Comedy Central. As a visual effects artist, Rosen has works on Ted, Grindhouse, Iron Man and several Star Wars movies.
