Wellness Wednesday monthly series 

The Office of Recreation and Wellness (RecWell) is holding social wellness events in the Don Taft University Center Spine on Sept. 12, 22 and 29. The events will run from noon to 1 p.m. and feature games, bingo and reflections on social wellness. RecWell describes social wellness as having positive connections with friends, professors and anyone else you communicate with. The events will focus on the signs of social wellness, including the development of assertive skills, balancing social and personal time and maintaining relationships. Flying Forward 

Tickets are on sale for Flying Forward presented by the ballet company Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami in the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Centre on Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. Standard admission cost $37, but NSU faculty, staff and students can receive $10 off their tickets by using the promo code “NSU”. Covid-19 guidelines will be enforced, and face coverings are required. Those interested can purchase tickets on the Miniaci website.   

 

TTC Success workshop series 

The Office of Tutoring and Testing is holding a workshop series focused on student success starting on Sept. 28. The first workshop, titled “Balancing it all” will begin at 12:30 p.m. and focus on the skills of time management from the academic success coaching team. Next in the series will be the workshop “Building your shark family” featuring instruction on how to build a network to help achieve academic and career goals on Oct. 1 at noon. The series will wrap up with “Get ready for game day” on Nov. 10 at noon featuring test-taking strategies including study tips, motivation tips and the importance of self-testing. All three workshops will be held over Zoom and students are not required to attend all three. Students interested in attending can find the Zoom IDs on the Shark Fins website 

 

Clothing drive for Afghan refugees 

The Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine Student Government Association is holding a clothing drive for Afghan Refugees until Sept. 23 at the Tampa Bay Regional Campus. They are collecting clean and gently used clothing. The donation box is located in the Tampa Bay cafeteria. Students who decided to make a donation are asked to provide their email to confirm their donations.
