Diversity Student Council to host Coffee & Queeries event 

On Tuesday, Oct. 19 from noon to 1:30 p.m., the Diversity Student Council will host a Coffee and Queeries event. The event welcomes students to join the council on the 2nd Floor Lounge of the UC to enjoy some coffee or tea and partake in conversations about queerness. 

 

Sign-ups open for annual Trunk Or Treat event 

Volunteer sign-ups for the annual Trunk or Treat event are open until Oct. 22. Volunteers are needed to decorate a spooky or fun Halloween themed trunk, wear costumes and hand out candy to NSU and Davie community members. Individuals and organizations who are interested in volunteering can sign up at nova.edu/trunkortreat. The event will be held on Oct. 29 from 6–8 p.m. in the Alvin Sherman Library North Circle and is sponsored by the Office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement and Campus Life and Student Engagement. Organizations that participate will receive 2 Fin Points. 

 

CAPS to host 10th annual Trick to the Treat of an Internship or Research Experience 

The Center for Academic and Professional Success and the Halmos College of Arts and Sciences will host the 10th annual Trick to the Treat of an Internship or Research Experience on Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. The event will be held via Zoom and will give students the opportunity to learn about why and how to apply to internship and research opportunities in the field of science. Attendees will also have the chance to hear from students who will present on their healthcare internship experiences. For more information, contact caps@nova.edu. 

 

Multicultural Affairs Committee to host diversity round-table discussion 

On Nov. 1 and Dec. 6, the Multicultural Affairs Committee will continue its series of diversity roundtable discussions. Individuals who are interested in attending can access the event via Zoom at https://zoom.us/j/99902841352. The committee explains the goal of the event is to provide a space where individuals can participate in interprofessional discussions, interact with colleagues respectfully and appropriately in a variety of cultural contexts and reassess their own perspectives. The upcoming roundtables will focus on the topics of religion and respect and belonging.  

 

KnowBe4 Security Awareness training available for NSU students 

KnowBe4, a security education firm has partnered with NSU to provide a short optional cybersecurity awareness course for students. The course provides information about common cybersecurity issues and gives students tips to avoid them. The course can be accessed through the link https://knowbe4.com/homecourse.
