Halloqueen drag show 

On Oct. 25 the Diversity Student Council as a part of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Office will host a drag show and student drag costume contest in the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing and Visual Arts Center. The show starts at 6 p.m. and will feature performances by South Florida drag queens. Students interested in the drag costume contest can register to enter through Sharkhub with the chance to win a prize. Student costumes must be appropriate and not violate the student code of conduct dress code policies.  

Applying to law school workshop 

The department of humanities and politics will present the second panel in its ongoing series of workshops on applying to law school on Oct. 20. This workshop is titled Law School: Getting in and Getting Through and will take place from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom. The event will feature a discussion with the Assistant Dean of Admissions of NSU’s Law School Yvonne Cherena-Pacheco and alumni representatives who have graduated from the law school. The panel will also include professors from the department. The Zoom ID is 677 191 8411. 

Wellness Wednesday 

Wellness Wednesday hosted by the Office of Recreation and Wellness will continue Oct. 20 and 27 in the Don Taft University Center Spine from noon to 1 p.m. The event will feature games, dances and awareness on physical wellness. The event promotes adequate sleep, healthy and balanced diets, daily activity and medical check-ups for  students. For more information follow the office on Instagram @nsurecwell.  

Lifelong Learning Insititute civics series 

NSU’s Lifelong Learning Insititute announced a new monthly lecture series on Civics and Democracy starting on Oct. 27 via Zoom. The first lecture will focus on voting and take place from 12:30 to 2 p.m. The primary speaker of the series will be Charles Zelden, professor in the NSU Halmos College of Arts and Sciences and member for NSU’s Council for Dialogue and Democracy. The series will run until May and prior registration is required for the Zoom link. To register, email lli@nova,edu with the subject line: Civics and Democracy Series. Other lectures will cover topics on suffrage, voter rights, the power of protest, contested elections and ideological polarization.
