NSU swimmers Erin Black and Oskar Nordstrand, both seniors, had never met until they transferred to NSU in the fall of 2011. Since then, the brother-sister-like duo has found their groove. The two not only train and go to school together, but they also share an apartment and almost identical schedules.

On Feb. 18, both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams celebrated a conference championship. Both teams led from day one of the meet and were able to hold off the opposition for victories. With conference championships under their belts, both teams are focused for nationals, which are scheduled to take place March 14-18.
From Feb. 15-18, both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will compete at the Sunshine State Conference championship in Clearwater, FL. The men will look to defend their conference crown, while the women hope to capture their first conference title in program history.
Dougan said that swimming competitively is much tougher than most people realize.
“I think our athletes did a phenomenal job of getting in shape over the summer, and it showed coming into this fall, and our performances in practice only helped them in their meet,” she said.
The men’s and women’s swimming teams concluded their first season at the Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships Feb. 17-20.
