Letter from the editors – Orientation Issue

Hi Sharks,

We know this has been a new and admittedly strange time for everyone. It’s hard to imagine that anyone could have anticipated going off to college during a pandemic. We’ve made it through countless Zoom meetings, online exams and what felt like at least a few hundred emails — and here we are again: getting ready for another semester.

Whether you’ve stayed in South Florida for the past few months, you’re preparing your long-awaited return or you’re getting ready for a first-time move, we want to welcome you (back) to NSU. We hope you were able to spend some time outside, take a bit of a breather and that you and your loved ones have stayed safe.

As always, our job is to provide you with news, entertainment and anything else we can think to write about — which is why we want your input. This is your student-run newspaper at NSU. If you’re interested in pitching story ideas, writing articles or just want to give us some feedback, we’d love to hear from you. Check in with us on our Instagram, @thecurrentnsu, for more information regarding meetings and how to get involved with The Current.

While we can’t be positive as to what the future might hold, we’re hoping this volume’s orientation issue edition of the Orientation Issue can serve as a guide for you during your transition back to classes this Fall, regardless of what that format might be. All of us here at The Current want to support you during your time at NSU and beyond in any way we possibly can.

Finally, welcome back Sharks.

Madelyn, Christina and The Current Staff
