NSU announces homecoming week lineup 

Nova Southeastern University announced the Homecoming Week line up for 2021.  Friday Nov. 12 will be the Homecoming Bash Dance…Yacht Edition from 9 p.m. to midnight in Hollywood, Florida. The following Saturday is the women’s homecoming volleyball game where they will play against Tampa at 1 p.m. at the Rick Case Arena in the Don Taft University Center. Also on Saturday, will be the men’s basketball game against F.L. National at 4 p.m. The basketball game will host the crowning of homecoming royalty. On Sunday Nov. 14 NSU will host “Sharks in the Garden” homecoming brunch which will take place in the Flight Deck backyard. 

Trunk-or-Treat to resume this year 

Truck or Treat will resume this year on Oct. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will be hosted in the Alvin Sherman Library North Circle. The event welcomes spooky costumes and decorating your car in fun Halloween themes to hand out candy to kids from the local community. If you do not have a car you can register for a table. A limited amount of candy will be provided and organizations that register will be awarded two Fin Points. To learn more, reach out to the Office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement located on the second floor of Rosenthal. Halmos staff presents at ADR 

Neil Katz, professor in the department of conflict resolution studies in the Halmos College of Arts and Sciences and the Guy Harvey Oceanographic Research Center presented at the 2021 Assocation of Conflict Resolution Conference held virtually. The theme of this year’s conference was “Reflective Engagement”, Katz co-presenters were doctoral candidates and students, Eileen Petzold‐Bradley, Peter Kent, and Brad Palmore. He entitled the presentation “Beyond Brick & Mortar: Addressing the Challenges in ADR Higher Education, Theory, and Practice.” 

Minimizing your risk of cancer webinar 

Nova Southeastern University and AutoNation will host a cancer awareness webinar on Oct. 8 from noon to 1 p.m. The webinar will cover ways to intentionally minimize your risk of different cancers. Jean J. Latimer, director of the NSU AutoNation Institute for Breast Cancer Research and Care, will be discussing: untangling food supply, consumer products worth purging as well as golfing and yard work.
